Holiday Families

For over 20 years the Knights of the Round Table has partnered with local schools and churches to provide Thanksgiving meals and Christmas presents for local families in need. Read more about this ongoing project and how it is truly is better to give than to receive.

Support Our Work

The Knights of the Round Table is seeking financial support so we can increase the scope of programs and projects like our holiday families outreach.

Giving Selflessly

One of the most important directives to the members of the Knights of the Round Table is to give back to the communities we have previously harmed. One way this is accomplished is by providing direct support to those in need in our area. Each year the Knights has raised outside funds as well as donations from its members to purchase and provide Thanksgiving meals and Christmas presents for families in need in their local neighborhoods. The members of the Knights are assigned to a small group of up to about a dozen members, and each small group is assigned a family to provide for. The families are selected through coordination with a local church or school. The Knights small group leaders are given information about the family, and are responsible for contacting the family and arranging the gifting. The small group not only provides a Thanksgiving meal delivered to the family the day before Thanksgiving, but also gets a “Christmas Wish” list from them with specific items for family members. The small group receives modest funds from the Knights, then raises the rest of the required funds themselves. The group then purchases, wraps and delivers the Christmas presents to their assigned family.

The delivery of the gifts never fails to bring great gratitude and joy, not just to the families receiving the gifts, but to the members giving them, often in greater proportion.

The Holiday Families Project provides a hands-on way for alcoholics and addicts in recovery to experience a sense of redemption and purpose. The project also teaches them the joy of taking time and money to give to others without expecting anything in return. This also results in the strengthening of relationships within the groups, as well as the family members of the Knights, as many often attend the shopping, wrapping and delivery of the gifts. An increase in funding and membership will allow for the Knights of the Round Table to provide meals and gifts for a greater number of families.
